Markets

It has been a while and so much has happened in the last month or so!

We started selling at markets and it has been a wild ride and also a little boring.

The first market we sold at was called Love Junk Flea Market, down in Oskaloosa. It was set up nicely by a very nice lady and we were happy with the low cost to enter and the smaller size of this show. HOWEVER, the weather was trash. It was cold and windy and cloudy so no one really came out to see us. We also had done a rain date and held the show on Sunday rather than Saturday so more than half of the vendors bailed on the event altogether.

Unfortunately, we didn't make any sales that day, but we did hand out a few business cards. We were quite proud of the booth set up, though. It was colorful and organized and flowed well. The lady who ran the show even said she thought we had been at this (selling at markets) for a long time by how easily we set up and how nice the set up looked. That was a boost to our ego.

The second show we participated in was a three-day event, though we only were able to make it to the last two days. Rustique Iowa was closer to home and easier to get to. It was also very well organized and friendly. We scored an indoor space so when it rained we didn't have to worry about it.

We were able to make some sales here, most from family or friends who drove down to see us. It was more eventful that way and less eventful because we didn't have to guard everything from wind much. On Saturday we forgot to bring stuff to do because we were focused on getting the important stuff and ended up pretty bored. (we fixed that for Sunday and it made it much more pleasant.)

We have a couple of shows planned for September and are excited for the experience and the opportunity to meet other vendors!
